In May of 1982 we opened the first Hans Meadow Kennel. It was located just outside Christiansburg. I built it with 24 dog runs, 4 cat cages, a wash and feed area, and an office. Above was a small apartment.We named the kennel for the area near us, known as Hans Meadow in the 1700's

In May of 1984, with the business growing and the arrival of my first daughter, I added a 24' x 32' addition, consisting of a grooming area, an expanded cat room and laundry area on the ground floor, and additional living space above.
In 1988 I added 20 additional dog runs, with six being larger runs

In 1992 I was approached by the Humane Society of Montgomery County. They were interested in finding a permanent shelter for their organization and wondered if I was interested in selling. After some thought, I decided it would be nice to build a smaller kennel and get back to an operation that was simpler to manage.In December of 1993 I opened the new kennel in the present location. I have 28 dog runs, 11 cat cages, an office, and a grooming/wash room. There is an apartment above for the resident assistant
